Samsung’s Gears S2 may work with iPhone, after all. A new report by Digitalspy reveals that a Samsung spokesperson has confirmed the Tizen based Gear S2 will soon support the iPhone.
“We are looking at possibilities to open it up to iOS. Because we opened it up to Android, we are looking at this,” the company told the news site.
In the past, Samsung’s smartwatches were limited to its own smartphones, but the new announced has paved way to be used with Android handsets from other brands right out-of-the-box. This is a good move considering Samsung’s newest Gear S2 faces competition not just from Apple but also from a variety of manufacturers using Google’s Android Wear software.
The S2 is the Samsung’s first smartwatch with a circular design, and the company says the watch’s frame will rotate to help users access apps and notifications. The S2 will come in two styles classic and modern with various colours and bands. It promises two to three days of battery life, compared with Apple Watch’s 18 hours.
