Fingerprint scanners are the new flagship 'norm' these days with possibly every other company putting it in their high-end phones. Moreover, the feature has found its way to a few mid-range the Meizu MX5 and budget phones - the Coolpad Dazen Note 3 - as well. And now, a new report suggests that Xiaomi's yet-to-be-announced flagship Mi 5 will also have one.
Rumours that the Xiaomi Mi 5 will carry a fingerprint scanner (and a USB C-Type port) have been doing the rounds for quite some time now. Only now, some definite proof is coming that the fingerprint scanner thing could be for real.
The source (via techzoom ) of the information is a newly leaked teaser image of the alleged Xiaomi Mi 5 well, actually it looks more like a media invite to be honest that suggests the phone may have a fingerprint scanner.
Xiaomi has been silently working on its new flagship dropping in no hints whatsoever about the handset, at least for now. That however hasn't stopped rumours from speculating what to expect of the new phone.
Earlier, it was reported that Xiaomi may ditch Qualcomm's new and yet-to-be launched Snapdragon 820 processor in favour of MediaTek's deca-core Helio X20 chipset for the Mi 5. This is because the Snapdragon 820 will launch somewhere between the December 2015-January 2016 time frame. Chances are Xiaomi may not want to wait that long, and instead ship the Mi 5 earlier with the Helio X20.
The Xiaomi Mi 5 is rumoured to come with a 5.3-inch QuadHD display with a 2560x1440p resolution. It is expected that the Mi 5 will come with 4GB of RAM and 16-megapixel rear camera with a dual-LED flash along optical image stabilisation.
It is further expected to run Xiaomi's recent MIUI 7 and house a 3,030mAh battery
