Chinese tech major Lenovo on Wednesday launched what is currently the cheapest Android-based 4G LTE smartphone in India, the A2010. The Lenovo A2010 has been officially launched in India at a price of Rs.4,990 and it will go on sale for the first time on September 3 starting 3PM exclusively via Flipkart.
The A2010, just like other Lenovo phones will be sold via flash sale model. The company is now taking pre-orders for the black variant of the phone. The A2010 will have another white variant as well, however, the company is yet to disclose when that will be available for grabs.
As mentioned earlier, the A2010 is the cheapest 4G LTE smartphone in India right now. The Phicomm Energy 653 was the cheapest 4G handset in India earlier.
In terms of specifications, the A2010 has a 4.5-inch FWVGA display with a 854 x 480 pixels resolution. The phone is powered by a 1GHz MediaTek MT6735M 64-bit quad-core processor coupled with 1GB of RAM and 8GB of internal memory. It is further expandable by up to 32GB via microSD card slot.
The dualSIM A2010 runs Android 5.1 Lollipop out-of-the-box and supports the two available LTE bands in India, FDD 1800MHz (Band 3) and TDD 2300MHz (Band 40).
It sports a 5MP rear camera with LED flash along with a 2MP front-facing camera. It uses a 2,000mAh battery which is rated to deliver up to 8.5 hours of talk time.
The launch of the A2010 comes just a day after Lenovo announced that it will start making smartphones in India. The company that also owns Motorola Mobility will locally manufacture its smartphones at its newly inaugurated plant in Chennai. The Motorola Moto E is the first phone to be made locally in India. Lenovo announced that the K3 Note will be the next phone to be manufactured here.
As for the A2010, there is still no clarity whether it would be manufactured locally in India in the days to come as well.
