Apple on Wednesday night announced new iPhones, iPhone 6S and the iPhone 6S Plus calling them the "best iPhones" the company has ever made. Tim Cook said that it was difficult to follow the success of the iPhone 6, which, according to him, was the most popular and advanced iPhone in the world, but the company managed to do it with the iPhone 6S and the iPhone 6S Plus.
The iPhone 6S has a 4.7-inch screen and the iPhone 6S has the 5.5-inch screen. In terms of design both are almost similar to the existing iPhones. However, according to Apple, internally everything has been revamped to make the new iPhones better.
The new iPhone 6S and the 6S Plus are powered by Apple's third-generation processor -- A9. The company said that it is 70 per cent faster in general computing and 90 per cent faster in graphics processing. The new phones also have improved motion co-processor, which will help the phone track physical activity of the user better, and the second-generation fingerprint sensor. Apple said that it is now also building the iPhone bodies with better aluminium and stronger glass cover on the screen.
More significantly, as rumoured, the new iPhones comes with a 12-megapixel image sensor. While it may not seem much at a time when Android devices are coming with the 20-megapixel cameras, for Apple which has been using 8-megapixel sensor in iPhones for years, it is a big change. Apple said that the camera in the iPhone 6S has a "deep trench isolation feature that separates photo diodes to keep colour precise".
One big highlight of the new iPhones is a feature that Apple is calling "3D Touch". This feature will help iPhones distinguish between different kind of pressure applied during the touch and help consumer perform gesture like "peek" and "shortcuts" by just varying the pressure they apply while touching the screen.
Apple's new iPhones will initially go on sale from September 25 in select countries. But by the year end they will be available in 130 countries, including possibly in India. For now Apple hasn't revealed the price of Apple's unlocked iPhones, something that may hint at the possible prices in India.
