iPhone charging wallet to debut at fashion show

M3
In the past few seasons, designer Rebecca Minkoff has been steadily positioning herself to become the techy in the fashion designer space. It was Minkoff, after all, who embraced Snapchat two years ago for her fashion show, long before any other brand used the social media application.
To further the point that Minkoff is at the forefront of technology, she is focusing on wearable tech this season, debuting an entirely new category of tech accessories at New York Fashion Week.
The brand partnered with Case-Mate to create a couple of tech-friendly small leather goods. Phone charging is a major focal point for the accessories.
One includes a charging wristlet folio that retails for $120 and has a built-in phone charging case. The wallet will come in black, almond and cobalt, with separate slots for cards and cash.
Rebecca Minkoff is also offering a fringe crossbody that features a dedicated phone compartment, and an iPhone 6 sleeve crossbody that features a screen display pocket, two card slots and a snap closure. For those who swear by Android, the bag will be compatible with the Galaxy S6 as well. All will allow up to two and a half charges per phone.
The brand not only sees charging accessories as the future, but the Apple Watch, as well. It will roll out a couple bands, one in snakeskin, another with a double wrap. Each retails from $80 to $100.
"Technology is part of the DNA of the Rebecca Minkoff brand," said Uri Minkoff, CEO of the brand.  "As wearable tech evolves, more of the conversation should be devoted to what makes the customer’s day-to-day easier in all aspects of her life not just health. We believe the most critical thing in her life today is connectivity, and charge has a lot to do with that."
Minkoff said that the brand's core customers were continuing to evolve, with technology at the center of who they are.
rebecca2As for the future, Minkoff said the brand will continue to push the boundaries of technology and hopes to "push the envelope" in terms of the tech conversation.

"In the last year, we have pushed a relentless pace of introducing wearable tech, building the store of the future and leveraging virtual reality in our runway shows," he said. "If that makes us, the most technological designer out there, then so be it."

Each of the items will be available at RebeccaMinkoff.com as well as case-mate.com and will launch Sept. 12.
