Yu has performed pretty well in the Indian market but the company has strictly stuck to the budget segment, targeting the sub- Rs.10,000 market. The devices out of Yu’s assembly line-have managed to gain popularity on the marketing model of companies like Xiaomi and OnePlus by offering high specifications with a reasonable price tag. Now a new report suggests that Yu will be crossing the barrier of the mid-range segment and enter the ever-competitive flagship segment.
In a Twitter post from the founder of the company, Rahul Sharma, the company is eager to launch the "real beast" after the launch of Yunique. The device in question has been leaked several times and has visited the rumour mill by the name Yu 5050 or Yutopia. There is no official confirmation regarding the specifications of the device but prior benchmark leaks report that the device will feature a Snapdragon 810 chipset. It seems the device will be launched in two variants, one with 4GB RAM and a 2K display and the other one with 3GB RAM and a 1080p display panel. The display size on both variants is rumoured to be 5.2 inches and with 21MP primary and 8MP front facing cameras.
If this report materializes, this device will be one of the most powerful devices built by an Indian company and will directly challenge the likes of Xiaomi and OnePlus in the bid of the becoming the real flagship killer.
