At IFA 2015 earlier this year, Acer had launched 8 Liquid series smartphones. Among the 8 devices were two Windows smartphones.
However, at a recent event earlier this month, Acer demoed the Liquid Jade Primo smartphone in Taipei. After the recent Windows 10 event by Microsoft, where it demoed the Lumia 950, 950XL smartphones and Continuum, Acer demoed the Liquid Jade Primo smartphone during at event in Taipei.
Although the device demoed the possibilities with Continuum, Acer didn’t divulge too much information, calling it an advanced preview only. However, it effectively performed tasks during the Continuum demo by ST Liew, President, Smartphone Business Group, Acer.
A couple of weeks later, details of the device have finally emerged. Turns out there are two devices. According to a report in Tom’s Hardware, the first device will have a 5 inch screen, while the second device will have a 5.5 inch screen.
Details of the 5.5-inch version of the Liquid Jade Primo have been revealed. It is expected to feature a 1080 x 1920 AMOLED display and come powered by a Qualcomm Snapdragon 808 chip, coupled with 3GB RAM and 32 GB of internal storage. The device will have a 21MP rear snapper while incorporating an 8MP front camera. It will also have the USB Type-C port. The device will support 4G LTE and will be fuelled by a 3,000 mAh battery.
To begin with, the device will be available in regions where Acer does relatively well. This includes some countries in Europe, South East Asia, and eventually North America sometime in 2016.
According to a report by SemiCurrent, Manuel Wong, Acer Philippines General Manager unveiled the device in Philippines and said that there are plans to sell the Liquid Jade Primo in certain “bundle” configurations. The report quotes Wong as saying “users can really utilise it as the smartphone as a PC that it is.” It further added that the Liquid Jade Primo will become available by December starting at Php 18,990 which translates to approximately Rs 26500.
