Asus has confirmed that it is working on the next generation Zenfone 3 series of handsets. According to its CEO Jonney Shih, the phones will sport the USB Type-C ports as well.
Speaking to Trusted Reviews, Shih said, “I think Type C is the way to go, frankly speaking. You will see the answer when you see the ZenFone 3.” According to Shih, the reason for not including a USB Type-C in the Zenfone 2 series of phones was the cost factor.
Shih went on to say that like Apple, which leads in an aggressive way, Asus would also like to lead in an aggressive way but at the same time be practical about things. He said that timing is important with regards to introducing technologies.
So far we have seen phones such as the OnePlus 2, Google Nexus 5X, Google Nexus 6P with the USB Type-C ports. The new 12-inch MacBook released earlier this year also sports a USB Type-C port.
Asus recently launched the 5.5-inch variant of the Zenfone 2 Laser priced at Rs 13,999. This is the latest Zenfone 2 series handset after the 5.0-inch Zenfone 2 Laser, Zenfone 2 Deluxe and the Zenfone 2 Deluxe.
