Samsung's Galaxy Note 5 smartphone has started receiving an OTA firmware update that primarily brings improvements for call stability and battery life, apart from security policy updates.
The Android 5.1.1 Lollipop based OTA update is currently rolling out to the Galaxy Note 5 users in Singapore and comes with build number LMY47X.N920IDVU2AOJ4. It is about 145MB in size. There is still no word as to when the update will be released for other markets including India.
The OTA update for the Galaxy Note 5 brings improved stability of call; battery usage optimisation, and other security enhancements. The update notification screen-shot posted by an XDA Forum member shows that once updated; it won't allow users to downgrade due to changes in the security policy. Despite the Galaxy Note 5 being one of Samsung's top-of-the-line handsets, there is no official word on Android 6.0 Marshmallow update rollout for the handset - though it is reportedly part of the company's first wave of Marshmallow rollouts.
The Samsung Galaxy Note 5 reached Indian shores last month and was priced at Rs. 53,900 for the 32GB variant, and Rs. 59,900 for the 64GB variant.
