Samsung Galaxy S6 Edge plus receiving Firmware Update with Battery & Call Stability fixes

Samsung last week started rolling out an OTA firmware update for its Galaxy Note 5 smartphone, primarily bringing improvements for call stability and battery life. As per user reports, the South Korean company has started rolling out a similar update for the Samsung Galaxy S6 Edge+.

Sammobile reports that the Galaxy S6 Edge+ users in India have started receiving OTA update notifications with build number G928GDDU2AOJ5. It is about 140MB in size. There is no word whether the OTA firmware update is rolling out in other markets as well.

The OTA update for the Galaxy S6 Edge+ claims to add improved stability of call, battery usage optimisation, apart from security enhancements. The update notification screenshot shared shows that once updated, the Galaxy S6 Edge+ won't allow users to downgrade due to changes in the security policy.

Considering that both the Galaxy Note 5 and Galaxy S6 Edge+ smartphones sport similar innards; there is no surprise that both the handsets are receiving similar OTA updates.

So far, Samsung has not revealed any plans to update the Galaxy S6 Edge+ alongside other top of the line handsets such as the Galaxy Note 5 to Android 6.0 Marshmallow. However, a previous leak suggested that the smartphones are part of the company's first wave of Marshmallow rollouts.
