Coolpad has launched its new smartphone, Note 3 Lite in India. Priced at Rs 6,999, the new phone is the next edition of the Coolpad Note 3, which was landed in in India last October.
The Coolpad Note 3 Lite, which is also the first Coolpad 'Made in India' phone, will be available exclusively on Amazon.in. Registrations for the phone begin on January 15 starting 5 PM and the first flash sale has been scheduled for January 28.
The highlight of this low-cost phone is the fingerprint sensor at the back. As the company explains, the fingerprint feature in the phone not only lets users unlock the device, but it can also be used to secure applications individually. "With a reliability test of one million presses and 2.0 technology, the Note 3 Lite's fingerprint sensor can be used for 9 years," said Coolpad.
Talking about its specs, the phone features a 5-inch HD screen, 13MP rear camera with LED flash, 5MP front camera, and a 2500mAh battery. Unlike other devices at this price point, the Note 3 Lite comes with 3GB of RAM and a 64bit quad-core MediaTek Processor.
The 4G-enabled dual-SIM phone has an internal storage of 16 GB (with around 10 GB of user-accessible memory); the phone also supports a microSD card of up to 32 GB. It runs Android-Lollipop based Cool UI 6.0.
The phone will be available in India in Champagne White and Black colours.
During the Note 3 Lite event, Coolpad Group CEO LI Bin announced that, the company, by the first quarter of 2016, will start manufacturing Coolpad Note 3 from Videocon's Aurangabad factory. Further, the company aims to produce 1 million 'Make in India' Coolpad phones by the fist half of 2016.
As explained by Bin, initially, around 15,000-20,000 devices will be imported from China and the rest will be manufactured from India. Going forward India will be the sole distributor for the SAARC region. Also, the company revealed that by 2017 it will start its own SMT line in India.
The company says to have sold over 1,50,000 units of Coolpad Note 3 in India.
