Micromax is all set to launch the YU Yunicorn smartphone tomorrow in India. The flagship device of Micromax's sub brand YU, will be exclusively available via Flipkart and will feature a metal body, a USB Type C port and a fingerprint scanner.
Micromax released the first TV ad of the upcoming smartphone last night, teasing us with a few details. The ad shows a device with a metal body, chamfered edges, a fingerprint scanner embedded in the home button and a USB Type C port.
Further detais are sketchy, but a few days ago, a smartphone codenamed YU5530 was spotted online, which is most likely to be the Yu Yunicorn. The leak showed the device having an octa-core MediaTek Helio X10 processor, 4GB RAM and Android 5.1 Lollipop.
The company via the YU Forum, teased ahead of the launch "Excited to tell you all that our next device is round the corner and its nothing short of Incredible. It's insanely beautiful and it will break some hearts. It will break records, it will break the conventional, it will break the rules...WAIT, it will break the flagships,"
YU smartphones originally had an exclusive partnership with Cyanogen, but the Yunicorn is expected to run a stock build of Android. All the earlier smartphones from Yu brand were exclusively to Amazon India. It is noteworthy that the company had earlier announced that they will be launching the phone on May 19, but that had to be postponed.
