Rumor: Next iPhone's name could be 'iPhone Air'; may feature edge-to-edge display, button-less front, 10MP camera

One of the highlights of devices coming from one the world's biggest technology company is their delightful designing. The world went gaga when Apple introduced its super thin and feather light iPad Air back in 2013. Now, what if we say the next iPhone could be the iPhone Air?

In tune with the norm, Apple has not announced what its next flagship smartphone will be called or when it will be released or what specifications it will come packed with. Yet, the rumor mill and market analysts have been placing their bets on the successors to the iPhone 6 and iPhone 6 Plus variants.

While the popular speculations side with the possible iPhone 6s and iPhone 6s Plus, according to our source, who has access to information on Apple's future product lineup plans, the next iPhone could very well be called the "iPhone Air" and in every likelihood have the same thin and light features as the tablet.

Apple has been long rumoured to introduce a new iPhone with a smaller screen. And our source has revealed that the purported 'iPhone Air', "will come with a 4.7-inch retina display, really narrow bezels, almost edge-to-edge display. It will be another good-looking iDevice".

While anticipating a 'spilling display' seems too ambitious, an edge-to-edge display would yet again be Apple's first-ever thin bezel iPhone.

Another interesting bit on the 'iPhone Air', as revealed by our source is that, "it won't have a physical home button. The front will be all flat and smooth to touch. No physical home button. It will have a virtual home button instead." In another first, lack of a physical home button suggests Apple's shift from its standard design to the virtual buttons as present in most Android devices these days.

The final bit of scoop from our source is about the phone's camera and battery. According to the source, the 'iPhone Air' "will have a 10 mega-pixel camera with f/2.2 aperture. Battery will be 2800 mAh."

This camera specification is more than the current 8 mega-pixel offering in Apple's iPhone 6 and iPhone 6 Plus models. Given the smaller size, a bigger battery is indeed hard to imagine. If measured against the iPhone 6 Plus' 2915 mAh battery, the 'iPhone Air' stands low, but scores more than the iPhone 6 with 1810 mAh.
