Samsung on Monday launched its new 4G LTE mid-range phone, the Galaxy Grand Prime 4G in India at an aggressive price of Rs.11,100. With the launch of the Galaxy Grand Prime 4G, Samsung has extended its 4G portfolio to 14 models.
The Grand Prime boasts of Samsung's new design philosophy with metal-like serrated edges enclosing an 8.6 mm slim frame.
The phone has a 5-inch qHD TFT display with a 960x540 pixels resolution. It is powered by a 1.2GHz quad-core processor (unspecified) coupled with 1GB RAM.
It comes with 8GB of internal memory which is expandable up to 64GB via microSD card. The dualSIM phone runs Android 5.1 Lollipop out-of-the-box with the company's proprietary TouchWiz UI on top.
The The Grand Prime is equipped with LTE capability, supporting both TDD and FDD bands in India.
"With the 4G variant of the Galaxy Grand Prime we continue to expand our product offerings in the mid-segment with the aim to provide uncompromised smartphone experience, at very competitive prices," Asim Warsi, vice president, Marketing, Mobile & IT at Samsung India said.
The phone comes with an 8MP rear camera with autofocus and LED flash. It also has a 5MP camera with wide-angle lens.
Connectivity options include: WiFi 2.4 802.11 b/g/n/ 2.4 GHz, WiFi Direct, NFC, Bluetooth 4.0, GPS and GLONASS.

The Galaxy Grand Prime uses a 2,600mAh battery rated to deliver up to 14 hours of talk time, according to the company.
Earlier in the day, Samsung launched its slimmest Galaxy phone yet, the A8 in India at a price of Rs.32,500.
